Editing

Chapter needs a major re-work. Time to start editing…

Picture title: Editing. Picture shows the writing surface of a wooden roll-top desk with brass appointments, and the desktop hutch, with three drawers on each side (two small over one large), a "cubby" space over each set of drawers, and five cubby/mail slots over the desk top. On the desk surface, there is a large hard-bound book, with glossy gold edging on the white pages, and small print. The book is open to a page less than halfway through with an attached ribbon marker across one page. One cover is flat on the desk, and the other is propped against the side-wall where the roll-top would slide down. To the right of the book is a set of five medical or scientific-looking metal tools. They are hooked or bent at one or both ends, possibly from a dissection kit. There is also an exacto knife. Further back from these tools is a bottle of gin with an antiquated label. To the right of the bottle is a tiny jeweler's anvil, with a tiny ballpein hammer next to it. Closer to the camera, on the writing surface of the desk (just to the right of the tools) is a stack of papers with messy handwriting on them. To the right of the papers, arranged facing diagonal to them, is a hand lens, a black fountain pen with a gold nib, an antique glass and steel syringe with an amber fluid in it (it's the gin - just there for show), and a pair of needle nose pliers and a razor blade. Above the pliers is a shot glass with a little more gin. To the right of all that is a wine glass with a black liquid in it, on a stone coaster that shows an old-fashioned map of the world. Below that on the desk is a notepad with a leather case, and another black and gold fountain pen. Next to that is a leather-sheathed knife with a wooden handle. To the right and left, there are wooden pull-out elbow rests. The one on the right has a couple blue surgical gloves on it. The lighting is warm. The overall impression is that to edit the chapter on the papers, the writer will have to perform surgery using the tools on the desk.
